IMAP and POP3

POP and IMAP is what allows you to download messages from our mail server to your computer so you can access your mail with a program like Microsoft Outlook or Thunderbird.

Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server Requires SSL: mail.missouricom.com Port: 993
Incoming Mail (POP3) Server Requires SSL: mail.missouricom.com Port: 995
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server Requires SSL or TLS: mail.missouricom.com Port for SSL: 465 or Port for TLS: 587Server requires authentication.

What is the difference between POP and IMAP?

If you’re unsure of what protocol to use, we encourage you to use IMAP.

Unlike POP, IMAP offers two-way communication between your Webmail and your email client. This means when you log in to Webmail using your web browser, actions you perform on email clients and mobile devices will instantly appear in your Webmail.

IMAP also provides a better method to access your mail from multiple devices. If you check your email at work, or on your mobile phone, and again at home, IMAP ensures that new mail is accessible from any device at any given time.

Finally, IMAP offers a more stable experience overall. Where POP is prone to loosing messages or downloading the same message multiple times. IMAP avoids this through two-way syncing between your mail clients and your Webmail.
